What’s a better way to start off the New Year…..watching boring bowl games all day or throwing strikes at Highland Lanes?!
Let’s hit the lanes and see how they rolled on Monday:
We Don’t Give a Split got things started by taking on Livin’ On A Spare. Early throws showed some rust from both sides before Livin’ On A Spare started to find their groove. They took the win 606-490 to ‘get the ball rolling.’
Bowl You Over was up next against Arm Twisters. Arm Twisters got hot early and stayed hot while taking down Bowl You Over 581-436. Not to worry, Bowl You Over had a shot at redemption in their second game against We Don’t Give a Split. Although their hopes were high….their score wasn’t high enough to take the win. They lost a close one 553-598 when it was all said and done.
The best game of the night saw Livin’ On A Spare take on Arm-Twister. Both teams won their first games easily and were not expecting their second game to be such a nail biter. Not a single player on either team ended the night with a score of less then 100 and both teams got about 100 pins more then they did in their first games! Now that’s a turnaround! The game came down to the 10th frame where both teams had lots of close turkeys making for a neck and neck battle right down to the last player. In the end…….671- 695 Arm-Twisters for the win! What a great way to start off the new year!!
Even some early season technical issues couldn’t dampen the teams’ spirits on this night with lots of challenges already thrown down for next week. With a few suds drawn down….a few balls thrown down the lane….and more than a few laughs all around….2017 is already shaping up to be an awesome season at the alley!
It’s Sunday night and the NFL game is lame, so…….what you gonna’ do? Head over to ARC to take in some ASSC Indoor Volleyball ….that’s what! Here’s how it all went down on the hardwood!
Sugar & Spike goes up first against Los Frijoleros on court 1. Sugar & Spike showed more sweetness than meanness trying to break through for the win against the beans. Los Frijoleros proved too much and took both matches handily for the win.
Next up we had DodgeDipDive…uh wait going up against lil Bump N Grind …..what awesome team names!! lil Bump N Grind had the rhythm going on Sunday throwin’ down some nasty spikes with lots of dodging from the DDD’s. The W/L column gave 2 thumbs up to Bump N Grind in this battle!
Back over on court 1, Burrito took on No Diggity in this pink vs orange jersey matchup. Both teams threw down some great rallies and dug in for the long haul. Burrito’s took a squeaker in the first set and carried that momentum going into the next set. No Diggity actually did their share of digging out some spikes to hold their own. Burrito just had a little more “umpf” in their game and took the second set as well. Great games to both!
Another great matchup pitted No Sets For You against European Wax Center. These 2 teams were evenly matched and had some amazing rallies and great blocks at the net. European Wax barely edged No Sets to take the first set and had their hands full again in the second. No Sets had the lead most of the game but European Wax put up 9 consecutive points to take another exciting game. Wow…..awesome games!
Docs was the place to be after it was all said and done where libations flowed and tall tales grew! Come join us next week when we post it all up again!
“Woooo” said Rick Flair! And the entire lanes as Have Fun secured the Championship once and for all! They took out the King Pins before slicing up We Don’t Give A Split in the Finals.
That made it 10 for 10 on the season as they finished with that sexy perfect record. This marks one of the most dominant seasons in SSC History.
And if you thought they were going to bask in the glory you were sorely mistaken. In the most typical Have Fun fashion imaginable, they only took the Championship picture with their opponents in the Finals. Add in a twerk handstand and that’s what makes Have Fun so much fun.
Congrats to them on an outstandingly fun season! We will see you all and your friends out at the lanes this Fall!
After a thrilling semifinal victory over Pikachu, Squirtle had the momentum rolling their way against Gutter Done.
Squirtle was neck in neck with Pikachu and they did not clinch it until their final throw of the night. Marisa had one chance to answer Pikachu and did she ever. She rolled a Strike and a Spare to clinch their spot in the Finals.
In the aforementioned finals against Gutter Done, Squirtle brought their A-game and left nothing to be decided as the final frames rolled around. They ended up winning the title in dominant fashion.
As you all heard, we’re moving to Highland Lanes and from the sounds of it, we’ll see a lot of you out there! We can’t wait!
The Playoffs are here as this Thursday night will end with a Champion of the World! Will it be a well-seasoned team to win it all? Or will there be a new Champion? There is a possibility of a Rookie team winning it too.
So many questions left unanswered, only two games to solve the puzzle.
Have Fun are coming in unbeaten as they will take on a veteran team in the King Pins. They snuck in to the postseason but have what it takes to shake up the pool a bit.
On the other side is the Rookie squad taking on a Champion of yesteryear.
We’ll see you out there!
