Welcome one and all to ASSC’s Fall II basketball 3s season opener at Pan Am! Let’s get right to it and see how this fall season’s opener played out down south!
Court 1 – 7:00 PM
The Austin Wombats took on the Cap City Ballers to get it all started. Both teams took awhile to get warmed up and scope out the other’s assets and liabilities. Cap City Ballers struck first and always seemed to keep a couple of steps ahead of the Wombats. The Cap City Ballers never looked back in this one to take the victory 20-10.
Court 2 – 7:30 PM
The Austin Wombats didn’t waste much time getting right into their second matchup taking on Cartoon Physics in their sport grey jerseys. It must have been Groundhog Day for the Wombats with a strong showing up front but failing to keep up with the Cartoon Physics shot for shot. Wombats fell once again by 10 to the Cartoon Physics 20-10 when the final whistle blew.
Court 1 – 7:30 PM
The second game on court 1 saw Dish Me the Rock up against Cap City Ballers in a nail biter! Each team matching the other shot for shot all the way through. Great defense along with some great offense saw this one come down to the wire. Cap City Ballers edged the Rock by one at the gun…..17-16. What a game!
Court 2 – 8:00 PM
In another close one, Under Armour went up against Hoops4Harambe in the 8 o’clock game. Both teams showed early they were matched up pretty evenly and kept it close throughout. It all came down to who would have the last possession once time ran out. Hoops pulled the short straw and had their chance to win it all…….and that they did! They hit the magic basket as time ran out to the the dub-ya at 20-18! Wow!
Court 1 – 8:00 PM
Back on court 1 for the 8 o’clock game, The Ball Beaters were matched up against the purple jerseys of A Team Has No Name. No Name might have actually made a real name for themselves with some stellar screens and blocks to put up a great defensive scheme. The Ball Beaters didn’t go without a fight, however, shooting shot for shot up until late in the game. No Name proved too much in the last 2 minutes of the game taking it all at 20-17.
Court 2 – 8:30 PM
The Ball Beaters still had something to prove in their next matchup with Hoops4Harambe on court 2. Unfortunately, Hoops had other ideas and never let up to take it going away at 20-7. Don’t worry, Ball Beaters, it’s still early in the season and there’s always next week!
Court 1 – 8:30 PM
Practice!? We talkin’ bout practice!? …. no, we talkin’ bout a game…..against A Team Has No Name! They don’t get much closer than this! No Name was trying to keep the momentum going from their earlier win and put up some good defense to keep Practice!? from scoring. They both went at each other but baskets were hard to find no matter what they tried. Again, it all came down to the last possession and Practice!? had it to take the dub-ya in a squeaker 16-15 over No Name! Another exciting game!
Court 2 – 9:00 PM
Practice!? had no time to rest heading over to court 2 for the final game of the night. They took on Under Armour in their military green and it was another battle. Practice?! took the early lead and barely stayed one step ahead of Under Armour before turning it on the last few minutes of the game. Practice!? truly showed they did not need practice taking their second win of the night 20-13 over Under Armour.
Another exciting night at Pan Am and another great happy hour at Craftsman where plays were replayed, stories were retold and predictions for next week were made once again. Come join us as we do it all again next Thursday!
