Cornhole Rules

OFFICIALS:

All games will be self-officiated, however the SSC will provide a Gameday Coordinator for each location to help direct payers, resolve disputes, etc.

EQUIPMENT:

The SSC will provide all Cornhole boards and bags.

PLAYING ROSTER:

The maximum numbers of players on a team is four. The minimum number of players is three. The maximum number of males is two. The minimum number of females is one.

Forfeit Fines do not apply to SSC Cornhole.

Teams may pitch in any order they wish, provided it is consistent for the duration of the game. Teams may substitute at-will between innings but may not switch Cornhole boards during a game.

Teams lose the ability to challenge a player’s eligibility after the second game, except in the case of a late-arriving player.

FORMAT:

Matches are played best of seven games with a 60 minute time limit.

The team reaching a score of 21 by two or 25 straight wins the game. If the time limit is reached in the middle of an inning, the inning shall be completed.

Playoffs will be played by the top four teams in the league in the final week.

Prior to the first game, both captains will meet to determine initial pitching order with a game of rock, paper, scissors. Subsequent pitching order is determined by scoring in each half inning. The team that has last scored points shall pitch first in the following half-inning.

All games are doubles play. One member of each team will pitch from one Cornhole board while the other members pitch from the opposite Cornhole board.

Cornhole games are broken down into innings of play. The top of an inning is completed when one player from each team has pitched all four of his or her team’s Cornhole bags from the first Cornhole board. The bottom of the inning is completed when the remaining player on each team has pitched all four of his or her team’s Cornhole bags from the opposite Cornhole board.

Players alternate pitching Cornhole bags until all are thrown. All pitches must be underhand.

SCORING:

Cancellation scoring shall be used without “skunks” or “busts”. At the conclusion of a half-inning, the lowest team point total is subtracted from the highest team point total. The resulting point total is then awarded to the team that originally had the higher point total.

Point Values:
– Bag-in-the-Hole – 3 points
– Bag-on-the-Board – 1 point
– Bag-off-the-Board – 0 points

Scores shall be reported to the SSC Gameday Coordinator.

FOULS:

– Pitching a bag with a foot over the foul line (front edge of your team’s Cornhole board)
– A pitched Cornhole bag that contacts the ground before coming to rest on the board.
– A pitched Cornhole bag that contacts other out-of-bounds obstructions before coming to rest on the board.
– Pitching a bag overhand.

Any bags-on-the-board that are knocked off by a foul pitched bag shall be returned as closely as possible to their initial position on the board.
Any rules not specifically mentioned here follow those of the ACA.

STANDINGS:

Teams earn three points for a win, one point for a tie, and zero points for a loss. Teams are ranked in order based on the following criteria:
– Total Standings Points
– Head to Head
– Total Games Allowed
– Total Game Differential

DYNASTY RULE:

Everyone loves a little competition, but one team dominating a league season after season can spoil the fun for everybody.
If a team retaining more than one player has won three championships in consecutive seasons for which they have been registered, the SSC will have the option to, in its discretion, request that team to form two or more separate teams to promote parity in the league or withdraw their registration. That team will then have the opportunity to form two separate teams with each subsequent roster approved by the SSC.
